Each map visualizes specific places that were mentioned by name in the encoded interviews.
Although the development of the DDHI Data Visualization Toolkit is still in its early stages, we have produced some sample visualizations from some of the interviews encoded by our student research associates. These visualizations are scrollable and zoomable maps produced using the common JavaScript library leaflet.js. Each map visualizes specific places that were mentioned by name in the encoded interviews. While these visualizations are rudimentary compared to the ones that we expect DDHI users will eventually produce, they provide us with a useful way to think about the capabilities that we want to incorporate into the Data Visualization Toolkit.
